It was a privilege to host 127 NHS Care Co-ordinators (CCs) at our free online Conference on 11th February. Thank you all who joined in, bringing your energy and insight to the afternoon. Especially Darcie Parry (CC ambassador form Notts) , Kavita Gaur (GP from NW London), and our own associate trainers Holly and Emily, for all their planning and contributions on the day.
The headline take home messages:
-People love doing the CC role, especially when they are able to do the full patient facing co-ordination role, managing an ongoing caseload, rather than just having on the day admin roles
-The longer the role has been embedded in the NHS team the more it is valued by other clinicians and patients
-These relatively new roles need supervision and support to grow their identity and keep them and their patients safe.
There's more to share...
The CC is a relatively new role in the NHS, and often there is very little support or follow on training for people in this role. We wanted to honour the value they bring to the NHS by offering an opportunity for people to learn and network together. We believe Its by sharing enthusiasm and ideas that we all grow.
Darcie’s stand out quote from the day was “CCs don’t just organise health care they humanise it”
It was clear from this session is that people love their role, and see how they add real value to the communities they serve. These were the scales we captured on the day from 92 participants:

There remains some confusion about what a CC role is truly for, and often people are used in admin roles rather than to manage a specific caseload of people (as intended in the NHS England Framework). It is clear that the longer primary care teams (and specialist teams) have had CCs, the better their value is understood, and the more likely they are to be used well.
When asked this is the word cloud of the main features they same of the CC role they are in

66 attendees gave us feedback about the event

If you’d like to revisit any of the discussions (or catch up on something you missed), recordings are now available on our website at Conference & Events | Peak Health Coaching.
We also interviewed Darcie Parry on our recently launched weekly podcast “Health Coaching and Beyond”. She is a fantastic ambassador for CCs, and one of main speakers and organisers for the conference. It’s a great listen and continues many of the themes we explored together.
